Following her breakup with her girlfriend, nightclub singer Jane responds to a personal advertisement placed by Robin, a real estate agent living with AIDS, who is looking for a companion for a cross-country trip. As they travel from New York City to Los Angeles, they make a detour to Pittsburgh to pick up Jane’s friend Holly, who is seeking refuge from an abusive relationship. Despite their unique personalities, the three women must navigate their differences in order to support each other.
