In Tree Hill, North Carolina, two half brothers with the same last name have little in common. Lucas, the brooding blue-collar worker, is a skilled street basketball player, admired only by his friends at the river court. On the other hand, Nathan, the popular and wealthy one, revels in the admiration of the town as the high school team's star player. Both boys are the sons of Dan Scott, a former college basketball player who made the difficult decision to abandon Lucas and his mother Karen, a choice that continues to impact his life with his wife Deb and their son Nathan.
