The filming of the movie, set in the year 1925 when the American professional football league was just starting to be established, takes place in real locations in North and South Carolina. George Clooney takes on the role of Dodge Connoly, a handsome and ambitious football hero determined to move his team from bar corners to crowded stadiums in the film. Seeing the football league on the brink of collapse after losing its sponsor, Dodge manages to persuade a famous college football star to join the team in hopes of reviving the struggling sport and bringing it back into the national spotlight with this final move. Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), the newest addition to the team, is one of America’s great kids. Also known as a war hero who single-handedly forced German soldiers to retreat during World War I, Carter is a handsome athlete who has gained unprecedented fame in the football field with his unmatched speed.
